Preferences

The following preferences are available in Oscar:

Display
This picks what sorts of submissions you will be shown. The choices are pretty self-explanatory:

Display Emblazons
This controls whether you will be shown color or black-and-white emblazons. Black-and-white emblazons can be a smaller file, and thus faster to load. If you have color selected, and only black-and-white images exist, you will get shown the black-and-white ones.

Page Size
In the 'comment' interface, how many submissions to display per screen. This can be adjusted so that one web page full of submissions fits on one screen so you don't have to scroll around the screen to see them all.

Forum Sort Order
The 'comment' interface is sorted. It defaults to sorting by the submitter's name, A-Z. You can set it to sort by whatever you want it sorted by. Eventually, OSCAR will support 'sort by whatever I have most/least recently commented on', but that's future.

LoI-style comment display
When an individual submission, or an entire LoI is displayed through the "Read LoIs" interface, comments can either be indented based on what they're replying to ('Indent Comments'), or all up against the left of the screen ('Left-Justified').

Keywords
Anything placed in this field will be used to limit the search when displaying the 'comment' interface. If you want to comment only on Russian names, you would enter 'Russian' in this field. Actually, entering 'rus' might be better, because then you will catch 'Russian' and 'Russia'. Unfortunately, you will also get things like 'rustic', 'obtrusively', and 'Petrus'. These will hopefully be sufficiently rare so as to not be intrusive.

Note that more than one entry is allowed, separated by commas, semicolons, colons, spaces, or slashes. Thus 'hungar/engli/russ' will work.

Mail me responses to my comments
You enter a comment. When somebody responds to that comment or to any response to that comment, you get emailed a notification.

If you have any sort of whitelist, the mail will come from 'apache AT sca DOT org' and will have a subject starting as '[OSCAR]'.

Notify me when Letters of Intent are added
Submissions heralds are an unpredictable bunch. When one of them enters a Letter of Intent, this will immediately mail you a notification that it's time to come comment.

If you have any sort of whitelist, the mail will come from 'apache AT sca DOT org' and will have a subject starting as '[OSCAR]'.
