Tir Righ IL dated 2012-03-07 (Jump to Submissions)

Greetings unto the College of Heralds!

Commentary on this letter is due April 5.

Red Flame Herald meetings:

I am not scheduling a specific date for the meetings. Meetings will be held shortly after the commentary cutoff date. If you are interested in participating in a meeting (usually held in the Shire of False Isle), please email redflame@tirrigh.org for the exact time and location of the meetings.

From Red Flame:

I'd like to welcome a new member to my team. Hawise le Wollemongere will be my deputy in charge of Notifications (her heraldic title is still to be determined). I look forward to working with Hawise in the coming months. My thanks to everyone who applied; I'm sure you would also have done a good job but there was only one person needed.

Many thanks to Caitrina Silver Yale for filling in this position for the past several months.

Alicia Red Flame

From Silver Yale (repeat from last month):

Greetings unto the Heralds and Populace of the glorious Principality of Tir Righ!

I can't believe there are only 5 months left of my term but time flies when one is having an awesome time and once again I am having to learn to spell my last name or find another Heraldic title <grin>. I will be stepping down at June Coronet 2012. Thus, we are putting out a call for applications for the Silver Yale Herald of Tir Righ. Applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2012. The successful applicant will be announced May 30th.

The term of Office is 2 years, beginning June 2012.

Applications should include an SCA and mundane resume (cover letter optional) be sent to myself at herald@tirrigh.org. Please also cc the following:

prince@tirrigh.org

princess@tirrigh.org

seneschal@tirrigh.org

Applicants are not expected to know anything and everything about Heraldry. Basic requirements for the position are:

· Good organizational and administrative skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills.

· A general understanding of the Administrative Handbook.

· An expectation to attend both Coronet Tourneys and Investiture events per year.

· Requirement to report quarterly to the Black Lion Herald of An Tir.

I would encourage anyone interested to contact me for further info. As stated above, you are not expected to know everything. We have a live document that encompasses the duties and procedures of each Herald within our College at your disposal. This has been a very rewarding position for me personally, we have an amazing group of people who feel more like a family than a College. Good luck to all applicants!

In Heraldic Service,

Caitrina Silver Yale

1: Eleanor Odlowe - New Name

• Submitter desires a female name.
• No major changes.
• Culture (Late 14th/early 15th century English) most important.

Eleanor is documented to 1361 Sudley in "Feminine Given Names in A Dictionary of English Surnames" http://heraldry.sca.org/laurel/reaneyAG.html

Odlowe is documented to 15th century York in "Surnames in 15th Century York" http://heraldry.sca.org/laurel/names/york15/surnames-alphabetical.htm#O

1: Eleanor Odlowe - New Device

Azure, three seeblatter inverted and a chief triangular Or.

2: Malie Rennick - New Device

Per chevron azure and Or, a raven wings elevated and addorsed, grasping in its talon a shuttle sable.

The submitter's name was registered in August 2010. Her previous submission "Per chevron azure and Or, a raven contourney wings elevated and addorsed, grasping in it's talon a shuttle sable" was returned on the Tir Righ IL dated 2011-08-07 for conflict with Sebastian Johann Stroh, reg. 5/83 via the East: "Argent, vêtu ployé gules a hawk striking to sinister sable." There is one difference for changing the field, but nothing for posture, as the submitted raven is essentially rising/striking. There was also concern expressed about the way the chevron was drawn and whether the shuttle was identifiable. The original submission can be seen at http://antirheralds.org/oscar/index.php?action=100&loi=206#6

This submission has changed the raven to face dexter and corrected the issues with the drawing.

Thus ends the March 2012 Internal Letter of Intent.

In service to the Principality of Tir Righ and to the College of Heralds,

Alicia le Wilfulle, OL
