Tir Righ IL dated 2012-02-08 (Jump to Submissions)

Greetings unto the College of Heralds!

Commentary on this letter is due March 9.

Red Flame Herald meetings:

I am not scheduling a specific date for the meetings. Meetings will be held shortly after the commentary cutoff date. If you are interested in participating in a meeting (usually held in the Shire of False Isle), please email redflame@tirrigh.org for the exact time and location of the meetings.

From Red Flame:

For those of you attending Tir Righ Investiture in Squamish on February 17-19, there will be both a Herald's Meeting and a Consult Table. For more information on these, please check at Herald's Point. I hope to see many of you there. You do not have to hold a heraldic office; anyone interested in heraldry is welcome. I'd also be happy to talk to anyone who is has questions about, or is interested in joining, the commentary team for Tir Righ letters. Remember, you do not need to be an expert to provide commentary; just willing to learn. You can also contact myself or Silver Yale via email.

From Silver Yale:

Greetings unto the Heralds and Populace of the glorious Principality of Tir Righ!

I can't believe there are only 5 months left of my term but time flies when one is having an awesome time and once again I am having to learn to spell my last name or find another Heraldic title <grin>. I will be stepping down at June Coronet 2012. Thus, we are putting out a call for applications for the Silver Yale Herald of Tir Righ. Applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2012. The successful applicant will be announced May 30th.

The term of Office is 2 years, beginning June 2012.

Applications should include an SCA and mundane resume (cover letter optional) be sent to myself at herald@tirrigh.org. Please also cc the following:

prince@tirrigh.org

princess@tirrigh.org

seneschal@tirrigh.org

Applicants are not expected to know anything and everything about Heraldry. Basic requirements for the position are:

  • Good organizational and administrative skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • A general understanding of the Administrative Handbook.

  • An expectation to attend both Coronet Tourneys and Investiture events per year.

  • Requirement to report quarterly to the Black Lion Herald of An Tir.
  • I would encourage anyone interested to contact me for further info. As stated above, you are not expected to know everything. We have a live document that encompasses the duties and procedures of each Herald within our College at your disposal. This has been a very rewarding position for me personally, we have an amazing group of people who feel more like a family than a College. Good luck to all applicants!

    In Heraldic Service,

    Caitrina Silver Yale

1: Alys Lakewood - Resub Badge

Per chevron Or and azure, three pine trees gules one and two, in base, a boar rampant argent.

This submission is to be associated with Boar Mountain Hold (household)

The submitter's name was registered in November 2008. The household name "Boar Mountain Hold" was registered to the submitter in August 2011. This badge is to be associated with this household name.

The previous badge submission "Per chevron Or and azure, three pine trees couped one and two gules and a boar rampant argent" was returned on the August 2011 LoAR:

This badge is returned for a redraw. The position of the trees here is neither one and two nor in fess. Please instruct the submitter to pick one or the other. Properly drawn, one and two would have the two outer trees further down on the field than they are in this submission. Additionally, this is not an adequate depiction of a per chevron line of division: ideally a chevron should issue from the sides of the field, not the lower corners. This is not a pile inverted, as that would issue entirely from the base, nor is it a point pointed as the point rises far too high on the field. Please see the May 2011 Cover Letter for more guidelines on how to draw chevrons.

The previous submission can be seen at: https://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=100&loi=1011#2

The submitter included a letter with the submission, the text of which says:

The November 4, 2011 An Tir Internal Letter of November 4, 2011 stated that Laurel returned this badge submission for a redraw. Key issues fixed with the redraw include:

  • Position of trees corrected to one and two, as suggested

  • Per chevron corrected to conform to the May 2011 Cover Letter guidelines.
  • Thus ends the February 2012 Internal Letter of Intent.

In service to the Principality of Tir Righ and to the College of Heralds,

    Alicia le Wilfulle, OL
